How to Use Your QLM Cloud-Based Floating License

A Cloud-Based Floating License operates by pulling a license seat from the internet when opening Simio and returns the license seat by closing Simio. This type of license allows as many users as desired to activate the license key received from licensing@simio.com on their computer. However, the number of concurrent users is limited to the number of license seats purchased. If there are no available license seats, Simio will open in Unlicensed Edition.

    Keeping a License While Offline:

A Cloud-Based Floating License is intended to be used while connected to the internet. However, sometimes connecting to the internet may not be possible. Due to this, the only way to return a Cloud-Based Floating License to the internet is by closing Simio while connected to the internet.

The following are a few ways to keep your license when going offline:

    1. Disconnect from the internet, close Simio – when Simio is reopened, a license will still be active.
    2. Put the laptop to sleep, close the laptop lid, take it home/on a plane/etc. – when the lid is reopened and the computer is woken up, a license will still be active.
    3. Close Simio by going to File and then clicking “Exit, Keeping License”– when Simio is reopened, a license will still be active.
Important: The only way to return a license is to close Simio while connected to the internet.
Note: Carefully consider keeping a license while offline as this could cause a shortage of licenses if users are not actively returning their license seats. Simio Licensing Assistance cannot assist in the returning or managing of licenses.
