You can see the version of your Simio application on the splash screen as Simio opens or in the Support ribbon in Simio.
In Simio Sprint 16.259, the “About Simio” button was introduced. You can click this button to open a dialog window which will provide the version number along with other information.
If you want to have your Simio version number more readily available, a change was also made in 16.259 that allows a user to display the version number in the title bar of the application. This is an application setting that can be turned on from File > Settings. Under the GUI section is the Show Version in Title Bar option.
You can check to see what version(s) the model has been saved in by right clicking on the Model or other objects in the Navigation pane and selecting “View Object Save Log”. This will be a record of the different versions that object has been saved in.
Another option is to right-click on the Project folder in the Navigation pane and go to Project Properties. There is a property that saves the last Save In Version information. This only records the last version a file was saved in.
Simio is a backwards compatible software. This means that models made in older Simio versions should be able to be brought forward to newer Simio versions without issue. We recommend bringing your model forward and performing some verification and validation of the model and its results.
If the model was last saved in a much older version of Simo, you might consider updating your Simio version in smaller intervals to make verification/validation is easier to perform. There is likely to be less changes between those versions of Simio than there would be in one large jump to the newest version of Simio.
Check out the article “How to Move to a Newer Version of Simio” for more information.
If you need to keep multiple versions of Simio on your computer, we recommend copying the Simio application folder which can typically be found at this location: C:\Program Files\Simio LLC.
Important: Be sure to copy this folder and not just rename the existing Simio file.
You can paste this folder into any location you want to store this version of the Simio application. We suggest naming the folder with the version number to easily find the correct Simio version. When you want to run that version of Simio, go to the folder and find the Simio.exe that lives in this folder.
Helpful Tip: You could create shortcuts to different Simio executables to find different versions quicker. You could also pin different Simio versions to your task bar.
When a new version of Simio is installed, it will be installed over the original Simio folder in C:\Program Files\Simio LLC. The copied off folder will remain.
If you have multiple different license editions, i.e., you have a Professional Edition license and an RPS Edition license, you can switch back and forth between the different editions. Simio currently has two licensing providers, Reprise and QLM.
A Reprise license is a sixteen-digit string, e.g., “3057-4968-3245-4587".
A QLM license is a longer string with both numbers and letters, e.g., “ANQM0N02002GHJKM8P1G1A1XWNSB9PTRW4”.
