There are two options for retrieving project files should an event cause loss of data – backup files and project recovery.
Simio will save a backup with the same name of the project file and in the same directory. This backup file is updated with each save of the project file. To revert to the backup file, find the file with the same name as the project file but with the .backup extension. Change the extension to .spfx and attempt to open the file in Simio.
Project recovery is used to recover progress if Simio closes unexpectedly.
Important: You must have Project Recovery configured in your application for it to work. Go to File > Settings > Project Recovery section. Change the setting properties to what works best for you.
When Simio unexpectedly closes, the user is prompted whether to use the recovery file upon reopening Simio. Recovery files are deleted each time Simio closes normally to save hard drive space. The project recovery saves are located in the %localappdata%\Simio\Recovery directory, where %localappdata% is configured on most systems to be C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local.
